Thala Beach Rainforest Yoga Retreat

Treat yourself to an intimate weekend away on our Thala Beach Rainforest Yoga Retreat. The retreat will take place on a private property and nature reserve in the secluded forests north of Cairns, with access to a beautiful private beach. The natural setting is the perfect background for the body and soul to unwind and replenish.

Accommodation is at Thala Beach Nature Reserve in exotic eco-bungalows surrounded by native forest with some vistas stretching out into the Coral Sea. Wake up to the sound of birds singing and prepare for the day of self-care, yoga and  nurture.

Through the practice of yoga, pranayama and meditation with Alison Dale find the moment of stillness within your body, your breath and your mind and take that moment of balance into everyday experiences in the busy world.

Alison has completed multiple trainings with world renowned teachers in styles from vinyasa to alignment, to restorative. Her classes encourage a playful curiosity, helping students uncover their innate potential through her unique blend of lightness and depth. Her sequences are skilfully crafted to empower students to peel open their protective layers and reconnect with the heart of the practice.

The perfect setting of our Thala Beach Yoga Retreat will allow for plenty of downtime, long walks on the beach, a swim in the ocean or one of the pools to bask in the natural beauty and integrate the inner work.

In addition to the daily yoga and meditation you will have an interactive and informative session with a local well-known Cairns naturopath. With years of experience in natural medicine and nutrition you will learn about the influence the right diet has on your body’s ability to heal itself.

Further, enjoy an interactive painting class under the watchful eye of our arts & crafts teacher. Create a masterpiece while enjoying the views and a refreshing glass of wine or sparkling, mingle as a group and explore your creative side.

Thursday

Welcome to our Thala Beach Rainforest Yoga Retreat.

Arrive at Thala Beach Nature Reserve for a 2pm check-in. Once you are settled in your rooms relax and enjoy the serenity. 

4 – 6pm – flow yoga class combined with breathing exercises and meditation.

7pm. Dinner at the resort restaurant. Time to get to know each other and exchange experiences of the day.

Friday

7 – 8.30am – start the day with energetic flow yoga and meditation.

9.15am – Breakfast, followed by free time to relax and enjoy the facilities and nature at Thala Beach. Enjoy the pool, take a nature walk or go for a swim in the ocean (winter months). Lunch at your leisure.

1.45pm – Enjoy an informative session with David Peirce, a well-known Cairns-based naturopath.

3 – 6.30pm – free time for leisure activities.

6.30pm – Dinner.

8pm – We will conclude the day with a half hour session including breathing/relaxation work.

Saturday

7 – 8.30am – start the day with flow yoga and meditation.

9.15am – Breakfast.

10.00am – Free time.

2.30pm – 5.30pm – Enjoy a fun and interactive painting workshop! No painting experience required as you will be guided by a specialist. The paintings are designed with beginners and experts in mind.

7.00pm – Dinner and free time.

Sunday

The last morning of our Thala Beach yoga retreat begins early with gentle flow yoga and meditation from 7 – 8.30am.

Check out after breakfast and enjoy free time on the beautiful property before we say good bye. Relax by the pool, take a nature walk or take a walk to the beach

  • Retreat will be guaranteed with min. 4 persons booked

  • Yoga sessions will be adapted to suit the level of participants
  • Prior basic yoga awareness/ experience recommended
  • Basic fitness recommended
  • During free time guests are invited to enjoy nature/wildlife walks on this beautiful private property or along the beach, swim in the pool or in the ocean during the winter months.
  • Guests staying at Thala Beach Resort are offered free tours which can be arranged at the reception. Experience days of operation vary week-to-week.

The Thala night sky is free from light pollution and filled with millions of stars. Surrounded by sounds of the rainforest & ocean – enjoy an introduction to the beautiful Southern Constellations from an experienced & passionate guide (subject to operation).

Naturopath: David Peirce

David Peirce Naturopath (Bachelor Health Science) David has been practising Natural Medicine for over 20 years and he is passionate about helping people to be as healthy as they possibly can be.

David won the Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence in his final year at University, and also the Mediherb Award for Outstanding Achievement in Herbal Medicine. “I always ask myself ‘if we create the ideal environment for this person’s cells, tissues and organs, how great can they look and feel?”

Using a combination of individualized dietary modifications, appropriate exercise, and advanced botanical and nutritional supplementation, David aims to promote Natural Health and vitality in his thousands of patients. “Gene’s are interesting, but Epigenetics, or how we can positively influence our gene expression, is absolutely fascinating to me.”

For Alison, yoga is life. During treatment for cancer, yoga and meditation were the means by which she stepped into boundless depths of love and strength and clarity. The practice kept her grounded and resilient through years of treatment. She runs yoga classes in various locations in Cairns and brings a lived experience of the potency and power of the practice.

“I came to yoga for the physical benefits. I stayed for the deepening sense of clarity, insight and connection it brought into my life. The simplest way I can describe the benefits of yoga, is to say—everything is easier when I’m immersed in the practice.

  • Transport to/ from Thala Beach Nature Reserve from Cairns or Port Douglas (car pooling may be an option)

  • 50% deposit required at the time of booking to secure place. $250 of this deposit is non-refundable.
  • Full payment must be made no later than 21 days before the retreat start date.
  • No refunds inside 21 days of retreat commencement
  • Cancellations made within 21 – 30 days of retreat start date will incur a 50% cancellation fee of total price.
  • Cancellations made outside of 30 days will receive a full refund minus $250 which is non-refundable.
